Not everyone has the means to pay for the services of a personal trainer, and because of this, finding a good exercise routine to have at home is a great way to stay fit. Enter CrossFit! When I first heard of CrossFit, it took me a few articles before I understood it completely. Phrases like “workout of the day” or #WOTD, “as many rounds as possible” or AMRAP, and “rounds for time,” which means timing yourself from start to finish and completing your WOTD while beating your time were all new to me.
The advantage of CrossFit is that it is your solution to having a full-body workout which combines cardio, weight lifting, core training, and even some gymnastics to have an overall toned physique and healthy body. It is a kind of high-intensity workout which lasts from 45 minutes to a whole hour. Usually, CrossFitters never repeat the same WOTD twice in a week, and may exercise three to five times weekly.
Here are some good samples of WOTD which you can try in your home:
- 5 rounds for time of 20 air squats, 20 situps, 20 pushups.
- 10 min AMRAP of 20 tuck jumps, 15 burpees, 10 hollow rocks.
- To work out your abs, you can go for a 1-minute plank, 15 bicycle crunches, 30-second side planks (left), 5 bicycle crunches, 30-second side planks (right), 15 reverse crunches, 15 hips up, and 1 minute of v-sitting.
- You can also do 10 pushups, 20 squats, 10 crunches, 10 burpees, 25 jumping jacks, 20-second plank, and 25 lunges.
I know these exercises may sound foreign and that the number of exercises you have to do may look like a lot, but they will definitely pay off if you want a toned body. These exercise routines are something you can do right at home. There are many different CrossFit exercises you can do at home, and you can set yourself a competition by looking forward to beating your best personal time. Initially, these would hurt, so find some time to let your body adjust. After it does, you will see the improvements you gain from CrossFit training!
