If there is one kind of makeup that we simply cannot live without, it has to be the concealer. After all, with all the staying up late and socializing we do, this is what keeps us from looking like the walking dead. In fact, I use concealer so much that I really can’t imagine what I would do without it. However, I also have to admit that getting my concealer routine down pat took us some time and I am sharing my top tips with you below.
Choose the Formula
I experimented with all sorts of concealers before I found the perfect ones and I realized that the perfect concealer wasn’t about the name—it was about the formula. My top two favorites happen to be cream concealers and powder concealers.
Cream concealers – These are the concealers that feel like lip balm and usually come in pots. You can apply them with your fingers or you can apply them with the use of a concealer brush. What is nice about cream concealers is they work perfectly for folks who have dry skin. If you want to try cream concealer make sure you do not have powder on your face or it will look cake-y.
Powder concealers – I love powder concealers because they are so versatile and can work on their own or with liquid or cream concealers. However, one thing you will want to know about powder concealers is they do not work too well on dry skin unless you moisturize beforehand. If you choose powder concealers, make sure to choose ones that are finely milled so that they go on smoothly and seamlessly. Also, a little goes a long way and too much will make you look cake-y.
A Happy Middle
If you cannot make up your mind as to which concealer works best for you, you might want to try a cream-to-powder concealer. This type of concealer goes on like cream but also dries to a powdery finish so you get the best of both worlds. You do not have to spend megabucks on your concealer but it does pay to go for the ones that have excellent formulation.
