I wasn’t too in love with eyeshadow the first few years I used makeup because I tended to focus more on things like lipsticks and blushes. However, as I got better at applying my makeup, I saw the benefits of using eyeshadows and I now have a massive collection of them. I have my favorite brands, of course, but like any makeup junkie, I can never resist reaching for a new eyeshadow brand and shade whenever a new one comes out. One type of eyeshadow I recently tried was the Revlon ColorStay ShadowLinks and while Revlon will always have a special place in my heart, I can’t quite say the same for these ShadowLinks.
What I Didn’t Like
The first thing I’d like to talk about is the texture. These eye-shadows are not as fine as the other ones I have in my collection and I would have been willing to overlook that but the colors were really an issue. Not only were they very light but what I got in the pan was not what I got on my eyelid. For instance, the shade Java looks brown on the pan but looks distinctly reddish on my lids. I am not a makeup pro so I rely on shades on the pan to help me create the looks.
Another thing I didn’t like about this was that it was very easy to become a glitter-bomb because the shimmers would fly around as I put on the shadow! I like some glitter, but not all over my face, mind you.
What I Liked
Before you think I totally hated the eyeshadows, let me tell you that I didn’t. I liked some aspects of the product such as it was very easy to make a custom palette out of the links. You buy the colors that you like and attach them so you have a customized palette. Another thing I liked was that they were cheap so I didn’t feel too bad about not liking them too much.
These retail for about $3 per link which is a great deal. You may even find BOGO deals, if you are lucky.
