English television presenter and “It Girl” Alexa Chung is a style icon and a trend-setter for many people not only in Britain, but also all over the world. Alexa has won the title of British Style Icon three times in a row at the British Fashion Awards and Emma Hill has even named a Mulberry bag after her.
Alexa’s beauty seems effortless, yet unmatched. Besides having a figure almost every woman would kill for, Alexa is also the queen of cat-eye makeup style. She has even collaborated with the beauty brand Eyeko and created a new mascara and liquid eyeliner set.
So how do we get Chung’s signature cat-eye look? If you’re new to this, then it’s going to take some time getting used to. At first, not everything will be smooth (both literally and figuratively), but once you’ve mastered the art of perfect cat-eye, you will not even need a mirror (just like Alexa!). But if you are a beginner, it’s a good idea to start by drawing dots along the line of your eyelids and then connect those dots beginning from the outer corner of the eye. Alexa herself says that she “has looked at enough cats to work out how to do it.” She starts by doing a flick from the outer corner of her eye upward. To open up the eye more, she also suggests using pitch-black mascara.
The choice of the right eyeliner is vital in getting a perfect cat-eye look as well. Nina Leykind, co-founder and creative director of Eyeko, states, “It’s easy to find the right eyeliner to create the perfect cat eye. Alexa favors a sponge tip and uses our Skinny Liquid Eyeliner to draw on her signature flick. She keeps the line fine by pressing the tip close along the lash line, starting mid-way across the upper lid.” Doesn’t seem too complicated, does it?
