There is certainly a functionality to having a skincare regimen, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun as well! If you can view that time as personal-care time, it can ready you for your day or for a good night’s sleep. Here are a few trends to keep your eye out for as you revisit your routine:
• The importance of hydration – No matter what your skin type, hydration is key in a healthy complexion. Sometimes the best solution is being able to ‘customize’ your moisturizer depending on what your skin needs in the moment. Bobbi Brown has recently released a new collection of Remedies that can help you do just that. There are six to choose from: Pores & Blemishes; Dull, Tired Skin; Dry, Parched Skin; Loss of Elasticity; Redness & Irritation; or Chapped, Cracked Skin. If you want to try them out, there are small kits available for three different skincare goals.
• All in the texture – Sometimes, instead of changing the active ingredients in your skincare products, it can be fun to play with new textures. Have you ever used a mask that foams upon application, such as the Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Foaming Mask? It is an invigorating experience that really wakes up the complexion. Another fun texture to play with is a melting cleanser such as the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth™ Melting Cleanser. When first applied to dry skin, it has a gel consistency that melts into an oil when you massage it in. Once water is added, it transforms again into a milky cleanser that rinses clean.
• Ingestible skincare – Not necessarily new, but certainly on the rise are ingestible skincare products. These come in tablets, protein powders, and liquid supplements designed to care for your skin from the inside out.
