I will start by saying that I love lip balms! Not only do I have them everywhere I can stash them, I apply them religiously and constantly shop for new formulas. I usually prefer sticks or wand applicators over pots. It can sometimes be messy to apply a lip balm from a little pot, and it dramatically increases the likelihood of contamination when you stick your fingers in.
One of my favorites of all time is the one-and-only, the original Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. They have all kinds of different flavors, but I love the minty original. Another excellent option that I discovered recently is Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm. It works wonderfully for a nighttime treatment, although lately I have been using something a little heavier because of the winter weather. Now, neither of these contain sunscreen to protect those lips. I use these two at night or in the office. For a great basic SPF lip balm, I highly recommend Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer with SPF 15.
If you would like something with a hint of color for daytime wear, there are also plenty of options such as Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soother SPF 20 or Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm SPF 20. Both come in a variety of beautiful colors.
Sometimes we all need something a little more heavy-duty, such as an overnight moisturizer or a recovery balm if we have gotten very chapped. I have yet to try it, but one of the products on my shopping list is Philosophy Kiss Me Tonight. In a pinch, I also resort back to one of the first products I probably ever used — Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment. When I was surviving the Colorado winters, this is what would always bring my lips back from cracking to comfortable.
